Australian Footy Trip - Numero 4

First night out shootin with the boys

MN Freeze,
Good'ay MN Freeze! I hope everybody is awesome back in warm MN. Right now it's windy and rainy, and 10º C at the moment, and we have training in about an hour...reminds me of Colorado last October. Hopefully Ohio is a little bit warmer this year.
Anyways, everything is going pretty good down here in Western Australia. We're a little past half-way through the season and my team has been winning a few games lately. I've been playing up at full forward for the league side for a majority of the season and I really enjoy playing up in the forward line. I've kicked about 12 or 13 goals so far for the league side and I've been getting better and better as the weeks go on. My best game so far would have been against Mergen's team when I kicked 4 goals 2 and I've been kicking about 2 or 3 goals or so each game. I've been learning quite a bit about how to play forward and all of the other positions as well. There's some pretty good players in our league and it's been great to play against them to watch and learn how they play. There is a player for one of the teams who used to play for the Fremantle Dockers and one of the first games I was playing league our coach put me on him to guard. I didn't know until after the game that he used to play in the AFL, and it was quite the learning experience to watch the timing of his runs and how he played. It's also been a great experience playing for Merv Neagle who used to play for Essendon in their glory days in the mid-80's when they won back to back flags in 84 and 85. If someone were to ask what it's like to play for Merv I would say that everybody listens to him when he speaks and that he demands a lot out of the players at training and in games. It's great to have someone like him involved with the club and to fulfill a coaching roll. We do quite a variety of different drills and I'm looking forward to brining a few back to the Freeze.
I am really excited about coming back and playing with you guys this fall in Ohio. I'm scheduled to get back into MN the tuesday before nationals and hopefully I can get out for a kick on that Wednesday night training. Best of luck with against Chicago and with the next few upcoming games! Keep trying to get as many as you can out to training and get in as much fitness as you can each week. Also, try and get together a couple of times off of the field to help bring the team closer together. Even if it's just a barbeque immediately following one of the Saturday training sessions, it will get more and more excited about being around the footy club.
Cheers,
