Evening festivities start at 7 PM at The Local (931 Nicollet Mall).
Des Moines rolled into Minneapolis sporting their brand new jumpers for their first away match in club history. It looked like they upstarts from the state of corn were going to give the home town Freeze a match as they controlled the opening bounce and moved into scoring position. The Minnesota defense held firm and countered from the back line, moving the ball upfield with accurate kicks and deft hand balls. Steve Fashant put Minnesota on the board early with a goal. Rookie Tyler Richtsmeier was back in the US after a World Cup trip to South Africa and wasted no time adding a couple of goals to the Minnesota lead. Anthony King slotted two goals and Mike Busse had one to round out the quarter.

King scored two quick goals in the 2nd quarter to let the middle team in the I-35 league know that the Freeze were not going to take them lightly and let up. Danny Hansen and Matthew Cattel also scored majors. The Minnesota goal kicking showed some cracks and ended the quarter with an additional 4 goals 6 behinds

After the major break, Minnesota continued pressuring the visting team and rarely let the ball get past mid field. Hansen added 2 goals, King had 3 and solo goals came from Andy Barret and Andrew Werner.

The outcome of the game seemed decided but the Roosters continued to fight hard and play with honor. They didn't want to be shut out of the score board and switch tactics. They started flooding the defensive zone and hoping to counter. Minnesota got a serious case of yips on uncontested goal shots after Ryan Sutherland opened the quarter with a short goal off a hand pass from Richtsmeier. Aboutt 8 minutes into the quarter, the Roosters broke the shutout off a goal from Ben Judge.
