Australian Rules football, or 'footy' as it is colloquially known, is a non-stop thrill - a fast, competitive, physical, and high scoring team game.
In its first three years of competition at the National level the Minnesota Freeze have had remarkable success by winning two championships; Division 3 in 2005 and Division 2 in 2007. Coupled with that on-field success has been the outstanding growth both on and off the field, as it has developed from a team into a fun social club as well.
If you are looking to get involved in sports, looking for something new or perhaps just want to see what footy is all about: join the Minnesota Freeze Footy Club today. New Players Are Always Welcome!!!
We have programs for men and women that cater to all levels of participation: local, National, and International competition. No prior experience is necessary. We have three local teams, comprised of players from various backgrounds, ages, and nationalities that scrimmage against each other throughout the season in a Metro League.
We encourage everyone to come down to Lake Nokomis for our weekly training and join us for a kick.
With an open and welcoming Metro League, a highly competitive team in the Mid-American Australian Football League (MAAFL), and a winning national team, there is much to like about being involved with The Freeze.
The new year is upon us and it is time to start planning for another year of great footy.
The first order of business is to kick off the season with our Annual General Meeting.
Mark your calendars for Sunday, March 4, 11 AM at The Local.
There is important club business to attend to: Read more »

Hope to see every player there. Friends and family are welcome.
The Minnesota Freeze want to pass along thanks, again, to those that provided prizes for our annual raffle. It was a very successful fund-raising effort.

They play their footy over 15,000 kilometres from the MCG, making the Minnesota Freeze one of the most distant outposts of Aussie rules football in the world. Yet surprisingly, they are part of a growing, robust footy subculture emerging in the United States.
The Freeze plays in the United States Australian Football League (USAFL). The competition was founded in 1997 and now boasts 33 teams from coast to coast.
Unsurprisingly, it is fuelled by the passion of Aussie expats, but is attracting quite a few American converts, including Freeze president Brian Driscoll. Read more »
The critically acclaimed documentary "We Will be Brothers" is now available on Hulu at http://www.hulu.com/watch/235710/we-will-be-brothers
In August of 2008, 35 American men from all over the country left their families, their jobs, and their homeland to live out a dream in Melbourne, Australia. These 35 individuals joined together to form the United States National Australian Football team-the American Revolution. No lucrative contracts, no endorsement deals, no fame, not even funding for the trip to Australia. Each participant paid their own way to play one of the most physically taxing games in the world, purely for a love of the game and for the opportunity to represent their country. "We Will Be Brothers" is their story...
Over the course of nine months, three tryouts, and five matches, not only do the players strive to win, but they also find a deeper meaning in the game beyond wins and losses. The aging veteran Donnie Lucero, talented rookie Jay Levesque, family man Ryan Marx, and fiery Head Coach Rob Oliver tell the story of America's quest to earn a spot in the Grand Final to be played at the 100,000 seat Melbourne Cricket Grounds. Highlights include matches against Denmark, China, South Africa, Nauru and Japan, as well as cameos from multiple AFL legends, and a visit with kids at an elementary school. The story that unfolds is about competition, brotherhood, and most of all... life.
