eager to prove that their recent cracking of the USFooty top 10 was no fluke and KC was more determined to prove that they were the ones who deserved a spot in the top 10.

KC won the first half of the home and away with a comfortable 30 point win in Kansas City in early June.  After the first bounce it looked like they would be well on their way to repeating that on the road.  The Power controlled the ball and the scoreboard.  Three quick goals by Macca, Cherry, and Tom saw them out to an 3.1.19 lead with the Freeze barely getting the ball into their forward line.

Minnesota picked up the intensity a bit and evened out the scoring chances in the first quarter.  However, inaccurate kicking for goal led to a single goal by Anthony King and three behinds.

1st Quarter
Kansas City: 3.1.19
Minnesota: 1.3.9

In the 2nd quarter, the Minnesota half back line lead by Ryan Marx started denying the Power of shots on goal.  The Freeze countered well with goals by Ryan Sutherland and Andrew Barret.  Inaccurate kicking lead to wasted chances to really put the pressure on Kansas City.  By holding Kansas City scoreless for the quarter, Minnesota was able to eek out a 1 goal load at the half way point.

2nd Quarter
Kansas City 3.1.19
Minnesota 3.7.25

After the major break, Minnesota continued to dominate the play of game and deny Kansas City any shots at goal.  Minnesota seemed to be picked up by the insertion of Daryl Fuchihara into the lineup and their athletic midfield.  The  Freeze had lost the services of full forward Ryan McLuen due to a gash on his shin which Minnesota coach Scott Johnson countered by moving seasoned veteran Jason Becker to the front line.

Minnesota added goals in the third term by Daryl Fuchihara and Zach Weaver and 3 behinds from a cast of carriers.  The defense remained stout and kept Kansas City off the scoreboard for the 2nd consecutive quarter.

3rd Quarter
Kansas City 3.1.19
Minnesota 5.10.40

Despite keeping Kansas City off the scoreboard for about 50 minutes, Minnesota only went in to the final term with a 21 point lead.  Coach Johnson implored his team to continue fighting and never relax.  Minnesota came out first in the final quarter and stretched the lead to 4+ goals off a goal by Daniel Kerwin.  Kansas City ended their scoring drought off a goal that just cleared the fingertips of Minnesota full back Keven Crane.

That goal seemed to ignite the Power and they started finding their front line a bit more frequently.  Minnesota rushed a behind and Kansas City missed a certain goal that nailed the goal post.  When the final siren sounded, Minnesota secured a 26 point victory.
